Exes are Exes...For a Reason!!!

If things didn't work out the first time...chances are that won't work out the second, third, or God forbid, the fourth time either!!  People do not really change. We are who we are at our core. Yeah the fringe (what's on the surface) may change a bit but what's deep down, who a person really is, does not change.

Never go back...always move forward!

Mascara Tip

If you need to apply mascara for a night out but are already wearing if from your work day...wet your finger with water, blink your eyelashes through the water on your finger, then reapply your mascara. The water makes your lashes more pliable and the mascara should go on without clumping.

Top 5 Day-to-Day Must-Haves

When you're going on a trip or even to work, do you have a check list that you go through?  Here are MY TOP 5 must-haves for getting through a day...

My TOP 5 Day-to-Day Must-Haves:

1) SUNGLASSES
Just because the weather is cloudy, rainy, foggy or even dark when you depart your home doesn't mean the entire day with be that way!  Plan ahead...even if the sun isn't shining brightly there can still be glares from other vehicles, buildings, or even wet pavement. Also, polarized sunglasses are very helpful in these type conditions so you may want to invest in a pair.

2) UMBRELLA
No one wants to be caught in the rain unprepared.  I remember in college there were a few days when I wasn't prepared. I ended up walking across campus getting drenched!  Then I had to sit in a class cold and wet for the next hour!  Brrr!  Never again!  I always have a small umbrella in my handbag just in case. Guys you keep one in your backpack, messenger bag, or briefcase!  Believe me, a little bit of preparation can make a huge difference when you have some place to be...business meeting, out to dinner, shopping, picking up the kids from school.  Staying dry = being warm and happy!

3) $20 STASHED for Emergencies
I try to keep at least a 20 dollar bill stashed away in my wallet for emergencies. It could be for a cab if your car breaks down or if you've had a crazy night out.  You could use it if those groceries add up to more than you were expecting. When would an unexpected $20 not be welcome!?  You all know when you get out your winter coats and reach your hands in the pockets and find $1, $5, maybe more left over from last winter, how exciting it is....Surpirse money!!!  YAY!  If you must use your emergency $20, make sure you replace it as soon as possible!

4)  LIP BALM
We all need it. We all need several tubes of it. I try to keep one tube in my coat  pocket, one in my bag, one in the car, one in the desk drawer. My favorite kinds are ChapStick Cherry and Strawberry flavor (they smell yummy and have a very light pink tint), Bonnie Bell 's Lip Smacker Dr. Pepper (contains a slightly red tint and smells like Dr.Pepper), and for ultra-moisturizing I MUST HAVE Euercin for Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy (in a small tube for lips).  You'll find the Aquaphor on the Lotion Aisle of most retailers, it should be shelfed with the Eucerin lotion. The Aquaphor works really well not only for chapped lips but also on sunburned lips. It's amazing stuff!!!

5)  CELL PHONE and CHARGER
If you're anything like me, there are very few phone numbers that I have actually memorized. All numbers are programmed into my cell phone and I just look through my contact list to find the number I need.  However, I also take along a phone charger because smart phones use a lot of power with all of their many functions.  I would hate to be isolated from my little world!

I'll go ahead and give you my Top 10...

6) Wallet and ID...of course if you'll look closely at #3, you already have your wallet because you've put your emergency $20 in it!  Genius!!!

7) Eye drops..if you wear contacts or get dry eyes, you know how important eye drops are for getting through a day!

8) Baby wipes, hand santizer...something to clean your hands especially when colds and the flu are very prevelant

9) A snack...I always have at least one granola bar with me...sometimes meetings go longer than expected, traffic can be a nightmare, or errands won't allow me time to stop to eat

10) Pen and paper...even though you have your smart phone, pen and paper still have a place in this world!

Now, you've read my list of must-haves for day to day, I'd love to hear some feedback from you about what your Top 5 or 10 are for getting through your day!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Welcome 2011!!!  I hope your New Year is off to a Great begining!  Have you made any resolutions for 2011?  I don't really make resolutions but I do plan on making some changes to better myself.  Here are a few:

1)  Drink more water! I've found that if I have a cute or special cup, I will drink a lot more water!  For Christmas, my friend Emily gave me 2-24 oz Auburn logo Tervis Tumblers with lids and straws!  I filled my cup up three times yesterday!!!  I'm off to a good start!  Water is soooo good for the body. It helps keep skin clear, lips moist, hair shiny, remove toxins, helps the digestive system function, and can help you lose weight--when the body is dehydrated it can store up to 4 pounds of excess water!

2)   Say "no" more often!  I have a tendency to overextend myself...probably because I don't want to disappoint anyone. I have learned though that if I say "yes" to everything I end up stressed out and exhausted. For 2011, I'm going to say "yes" only when it's something I REALLY want to do!

3)  Learn to play guitar! I've decided that I need to tap into my artsy/creative side more and I want to learn a new skill.  I found out that the church I grew up attending is offering FREE beginners' guitar lessons every Sunday for six weeks!

Those are three things I'm looking forward to incorporating into my 2011.  What are some of yours?  I'd love to hear about them!

I hope 2011 brings you good health, wealth, hope, love, strength, happiness, laughter, peace, and optimism!!!  And may you find a good tailor---your new best friend!  ;)
